WiFi QR Code Generator
Free online WiFi QR code generator. Enter the network name and password; once generated, others scan to connect directly—no manual password entry. iOS & Android compatible, 100% local processing.
What is a WiFi QR code?
A WiFi QR code encodes the wireless network's name (SSID), password, and encryption type into a QR code following a specific format. When scanned, the phone recognizes it as WiFi configuration and prompts to connect—directly joining WiFi without manual password entry.
The encoding format follows an industry convention:
WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyHome-WiFi;P:MyPassword123;H:false;;
Field meanings:
T:Encryption type—WPA,WEP, ornopassS:Network name (SSID), case-sensitiveP:WiFi passwordH:Hidden network—trueorfalse
How to make a WiFi QR code
Enter WiFi info
In the tool above, enter the network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (usually WPA/WPA2 for home routers). Toggle "Hidden network" if the router hides the SSID.
Generate and preview
The QR code preview appears in real time. Optionally customize colors or upload a Logo (error correction auto-switches to H).
Download QR code
Click PNG (screen), SVG (print vector), or JPG (small size) to download.
Scan to connect
Point your phone's system camera at the QR code. iOS shows a "Join Wi-Fi Network" prompt; Android shows network info—confirm to connect without entering a password.
Tip: Use your phone's system camera to scan, not WeChat or other apps. The system camera triggers the WiFi connection flow directly; WeChat only displays the raw text.
Supported phones
| OS | Version | Support |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | iOS 11+ | ✅ System camera native, scan to connect |
| Android | Android 10+ | ✅ Most devices support via system camera |
| Android | Android 9 & below | ⚠️ Some need third-party scanner apps |
| HarmonyOS | 2.0+ | ✅ System camera supported |
Is it safe?
A WiFi QR code simply encodes network info in an image—anyone who scans it can read the password. Notes:
- Use only in trusted environments (home, office) for guest access
- Avoid posting in public with the real password—anyone can scan and get it
- QRCode.wang processes data locally in the browser—nothing is uploaded, no trace left
- For guest access, set up an isolated guest WiFi separate from the main network
Warning: A WiFi QR code essentially "writes" the password into the image. Anyone who scans it can see the password. Do not post in untrusted environments.
Troubleshooting
Incorrect SSID case
WiFi names (SSIDs) are case-sensitive. Ensure the name exactly matches what's shown in the router, including case, spaces, and special characters.
Wrong encryption type
Most home routers use WPA/WPA2. Older routers using WEP must select WEP in the tool. Open networks select "No password".
Phone OS too old
iOS needs 11+, Android needs 10+ for native support. Older versions only display text and cannot trigger connection.
Wrong scanner app
Use the system camera, not WeChat (which only shows text). Some phones need to enable "Scan QR code" in camera settings.
Use cases
- Home/Office: Stick near the router or reception; guests scan to connect without asking for the password
- Cafés/Restaurants: Table stickers for self-service connection, better experience
- Hotels/B&Bs: WiFi QR cards in rooms, replacing paper password slips
- Conferences/Events: Post at check-in or venue for quick network access
- Smart home: Provide network to guests for device control
